Kids French Immersion Summer Camps

Join us this summer for fun in French in July! For ages 8 to 12 years old, all French abilities!

2 one week camps for immersion in French language and culture at our “home away from home” here at the Alliance Française of Berkeley! Experienced native speaker instructors.

Discover France and the Francophonie with Tintin

 

Follow the famous intrepid reporter Tintin and have fun with all the lively characters from the Tintin comic books as we discover the secrets of Paris, its streets and monuments, then travel across France and to other francophone countries to be immersed in local culture (crepes!) and traditions (African danse!).

  • Construct a mini-Paris
  • Learn traditional songs and dances from France’s Brittany coast to West Africa
  • Play-acting and story-boarding to prepare for the final show!

Mystery in Paris!

 

Who moved the Eiffel Tower? Who stole the Mona Lisa? With help from “Le petit Nicolas”, we will travel through time and space in Paris past and present, using stories and play-acting to discover all we can about the amazing City of Lights!

  • Learn history through songs, games and stories
  • Write your own story and then turn it into a play
  • Participate in the final show, creating costumes and working on theater skills

Small groups arranged by age and ability with a maximum of 5 participants per instructor.

Native French speaking teachers and assistants. 5% reduction if you register for both weeks at the same time.

Very accessible location in Berkeley, one block from Ashby BART station and free parking.

Typical day: Inside our cozy house (3 classrooms + kitchen) & outside in our backyard

  • 9am – Arrival Gathering in French inside & or in the backyard.
  • 9:15 to 12:15 – Theme related activities: 4 groups of 5 kids maximum depending of age and French level rotate through 3 different activities (craft, painting, theatre, danse, music, story-boarding, French recipies)
  • 12:15 to 13:15 – Lunch (please bring your lunch and snacks) and supervised free time (in the libray or in the backyard or TV room)
  • 13:15 to 4pm – Theme related activities, end of day rituels, and “au revoir”
